The Earth Prize
A competition for teenage students to drive change towards sustainability.
The Earth Prize is a $200,000 international youth competition that seeks brilliant ideas from curious youth to help solve the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges. It is a sustainability competition for students around the world between the ages 13 and 19 that rewards and recognises the teams whose ideas have the most potential to accelerate environmental solutions.
Created by the Geneva-based Earth Foundation in 2021, the competition supports participants (youth, schools, and youth programmes) with engaging learning content, mentorship by youth leaders, and access to global leaders to guide their final submissions. Mentors and judges come from elite sectors, including heads of Nobel Prize winning organisations, tech leaders, conservationists, bankers, etc.
Emirates Nature-WWF piloted the competition through its Connect with Nature Youth Ambassadors in late 2021. In March 2022, out of 650+ submissions from 114 countries, two of our youngest Youth Ambassadors advanced to the finalist phase for their idea of a digital platform to connect volunteers and funding towards under-represented environmental and climate efforts. Remarkably, we were the only finalists from the Middle East, as well as being the only non-school to reach this stage.
