The food-water-climate nexus will play an increasing role in the global transition towards more sustainable patterns of food production and will be critical for the UAE in its journey to achieve food security and limit related GHG emissions. Currently, the UAE is undertaking significant investment in technology and climate-smart agriculture, and optimising food supply chains to increase both food sovereignty and food security. You can find information on the UAE’s efforts to transform its food systems through national-level efforts in The Great Food Puzzle report by WWF International Report, supported by Emirates Nature-WWF, UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Health and Prevention - UAE, International Center for Biosaline Agriculture, and other local partners.
Emirates Nature-WWF is working closely with communities, industry and corporate partners to improve management of precious freshwater resources and soil to promote more sustainable farming practices. We are also working closely with partners and volunteers to promote sustainable diets and healthier choices through awareness campaigns and culturally appropriate policy interventions.
